  1. Read Real Component Markings

    Component markings use engineering notation, so read them the same way every time: a resistor marked 4.7k is 4,700 ohms; one marked 2.2M is 2,200,000 ohms. Pick three components from your kit, read each marking, and record the value in plain units and in engineering notation in your notebook. Watch the symbol case — capital M means mega (10⁶) while lowercase m means milli (10⁻³).
