SI prefixes used in electronics, largest to smallest: tera (T, 10¹²), giga (G, 10⁹), mega (M, 10⁶), kilo (k, 10³), base unit (10⁰), milli (m, 10⁻³), micro (µ, 10⁻⁶), nano (n, 10⁻⁹), pico (p, 10⁻¹²). Common conversions: kΩ to Ω multiply by 1,000; A to mA multiply by 1,000; µF to nF multiply by 1,000; nF to pF multiply by 1,000.
Scientific notation: a number expressed as a coefficient times ten to an exponent, with the coefficient at least 1 and less than 10. Engineering notation: scientific notation where the exponent is a multiple of 3. SI prefix: a name like kilo or milli that multiplies a base unit. Exponent: the power of 10. Coefficient: the leading number.
